(in black) is ice. The dark gray section is snow, and is compared out to 116 km
with a Landsat 6 satellite image. The second gray section is an area that is
less bright (than the “snow” section) having a mottled appearance (called
“light dappled”). The lightest gray section is the least bright on the transect
having a “dark dappled” texture.
